The Myth of Medusa
Medusa was originally a golden-haired, fair maiden, who, as a priestess of Athena, was devoted to a life of celibacy; however, after being wooed by Poseidon and falling for him, she forgot her vows and married him. For this offence, she was punished by the goddess in a most terrible manner. Each wavy lock of the beautiful hair that had charmed her husband was changed into a venomous snake; her once gentle, love-inspiring eyes turned into blood-shot, furious orbs, which excited fear and disgust in the mind of the onlooker; whilst her former roseate hue and milk-white skin assumed a loathsome greenish tinge.
I used a green strobe light flashing behind the subject to create what appears to be green snakes waving around. I also used a white flash to illuminate half of the subject's face.
The green lights represent the snakes and the curse that was bestowed apon her. The white light illuminating half of her face portrays that she is oinly half human, and half monster.

PORTRAIT OF A BUILDING
PHOTO 1:
I chose a small lakeside home across the lake from my cabin in Rangley, ME.
This building is a summer home, but nobody lives in it during the winter so it is covered in snow and abandoned.
I took a front view of the building directly across from it. Even though I was very far away from the subject, the rest of the photo draws your attention to the center because all of ice and the sky are both white, and the trees are grey, and the house just sort of clashes with the background and it looks out of place.
I communicated the isolation of the building. It just shows how secluded this area is, because there is no other houses on that side of the lake.
What image most conveys the personality or character of the building?

"Blues" Photo Series
My photo series is based on the repetition of blue in life. My work was inspired by Jennifer Bornstein's piece in the Institute of Contemporary Art. I used Photoshop to eliminate most of the warm colors in this series and what is left is shades of blues and grey. It also helped by taking a lot of these photos in overcast weather.
