PORTFOLIO PRESENTATION
PHOTO #1-
Why I chose this photo- I enjoyed the three levels of the photo and how they all line up to draw the viewers focus to the background, middleground, and foreground equally. Also the lighting in this photo leaves nothing out of the photo, as it is a bright, sunny day. This photo has a large depth of field. I like the point of view because it is a classic eye level point of view of a landscape. there is no overexposed areas and no underexposed areas. this photo also uses rule of thirds with the sand, the water, and the sky. The kayaks also create leading lines that split the photo into thirds vertically.
Technical Aspects- this photo was taken with a large depth of field and a fast iphone shutter speed.
PHOTO #2
Why I chose this photo- There is also the rule of thirds in this photo with the foreground, middleground, and background. In this photo, Everything is in focus and there is lots of contrast between the sky and the clouds, and also the trees and the sand cliffs. this photo was taken from a hill opposite to the cliffs. it gives a good straight on point of vew, so nothing in the photo is missed. theres alot of repetition with the rocks in the foreground which helps the pattern and texture.
Technical Aspects- This photo was taken with a fast shutter speed, a large depth of field, and was taken with my phone, so i dont really know the ISO or white balance.
PHOTO #3
Why I chose this photo- I enjoy this photo because of the blured outb background, which could be mysterious, but its in full color and shows a bright blue sky on the horizoin, so it creates a happy feeling to the photo. My hpone camera captured the intricate details of the rusty chain very well. The photo focuses on the rusty chain, but shows a blurrier, more distant, happy background. I think this photo portrays the message to keep moving forward and dont focus on the little things that are getting you down.
Technical Aspects- thi photo was taken with a fast shutter speed, and with a shallow depth of field, focusing on the foreground, rather than the background.
PHOTO #4
Why i chose this photo- I chose this photo because it depicts a very snowy, and cold, clear view of Maine's natural beauty. I really like this photo because its so in focus from the snow covered trees in the foreground and middle ground, all the way out to the distant mountains. the photo really focuses on the mountains because although its cloudy in the foreground, the mountains are lit up with sunlight, focusing the view there.
Technical Aspects- this photo was taken with my iPhone's fast shutter speed and a large depth of field.
PHOTO #5
why i chose this photo- i chose this photo because of the positive and negative space. the ice and the sky look similar, and the trees on the side of the photo and on the horizon put some negative space into the photo. the dark and light contrasting colors make for a very interesting photo. The sunlight reflecting off the oice is slightly overexposed, but that also adds interesting qualities to the photo.
Technical Aspects- This photo was taken with my iPhone with a fast shutter speed and large depth of feld.
PHOTO #6
why i chose this photo- I chose this photo because it was taken at the perfect time. i snapped 10 photos in a row in these few seconds to capture the bird flying over the sunset and i got the perfect photo of its wings spread. the bird adds contrast to the bright sunset in the background, and the pathway leading to the island creates leading lines that drag the viewer's eyes towards the main focus of the photo. the smooth clouds in the sky add a nice sense of peace and serenity to the photo, adding to the effect of the soft light of the sunset and the gentle ocean ripples.
Technical Aspects- this photo was taken with a fast shutter speed to capture the bird in mid flight and was taken with a large depth of field.

ADVANCED PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT
Photo 1: This photo is from hiking Mt Katahdin in Maine. I Took this photo on my phone but if i hadn't I'd have been using a sunny white balance and fast shutter speed.
Photo 2: This photo is from my cabin in maine. I walked out onto the frozen lake and took pictures of the houses along the lake and got this nice photo. This was right before a snow storm so there were very thick clouds in the sky. I used a cloudy white balance and a fast shutter speed.
Photo 3: This photo was taken while hiking Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. It was taken on a phone but i imagine it would have used a shady white balance and a fast shutter speed.
Photo 4: This photo was taken at night after a dinner I had in Quincy, Mass. This car really caught my eye because I like old cars. I took this photo originally with no flash and it didn't come out that well. Then I used the flash and it captures all the lines and aspects of the car.
Photo 5: This photo was taken with a very slow shutter speed to capture the light being flashed around my subject. It was taken in a dark room and I used photoshop to get rid of any extra light.
Photo 6: This photo was taken while hiking Mt katahdin in Maine. I took this photo as we were hiking down. We came across this pond at the base of one of the peaks and it made for a really great photo. I took this on an iPhone but if I had to use setting I would have used a sunny white balance and a fast shutter speed

technical aspects: This photo was taken on my DLSR with a shallow depth of field and a sunny white balance. i also used a fast shutter speed.
PHOTO #4- why i chose this photo: I chose this photo because i found the reflection of light interesting and the icicles look sharp and clear, and the shallow depth of field leaves the background in a blur.
technical aspects: taken on DSLR with macro lens. shallow depth of field. cloudy white balance.
PHOTO #5- why i chose this photo: I chose this photo because of the reflection of the building gives the photo symmetry and is visually appealing.
technical aspects: Taken on DSLR with zoom lens. large depth of field, and cloudy white balance.
PHOTO #6- I chose this photo because it captures snow falling in the air due to the very fast shutter speed. also the contrast between the black power line and green foliage is interesting. this was taken with a zoom lens focused as far as possible, and this is how i got such a clear shot of a power line that was about 50 feet in the air.
technical aspects: taken with DSLR with zoom lens and a shallow depth of field. cloudy white balance.
