PATTERN AND TEXTURE
Describe your best photo:
My best photo was a shot of a gravel mine in the woods of Maine.
What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?)
The distance of the shot is about 50 yards from the main focus of the photo.
What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)Is your photograph horizontal or vertical?
My point of view was looking down at a slight angle at my subject. The photograph is horizontal.
Does this photo follow the rule of thirds? Why or why not? (Describe).
Yes, this photo follows the rule of thirds because the horizon isn't directly in the middle. There are three levels in the photo, and the horizon is farther up in the photograph.
Is this photo an example of pattern, texture and/or rhythm? Explain.
Pattern and texture is created by the rocks in the foreground, and the trees also create pattern on the horizon.
Which image may be overexposed?
my second picture is over exposed in the bottom left corner from sunlight reflecting off of the water.
Which image is underexposed?
my 5th image is underexposed in between the trees.
Which image is the best example of a properly exposed photo? Explain why
my 1st photo is an example of a properly exposed photo because there are no sections of the photo that are too light or too dark.

What light source did you use to create the painting?
I used a LED flashlight and the blue light saber in this photo.
How did you achieve the image/effect?
by slowing down the shutter speed and capturing the light. I also used photoshop to darken the background of the image.

photo #7 is better because it is color corrected and in a shallow depth of field.
Why would you want to use a shallow depth of field?
you would want to use a shallow depth of field when you want something out of focus to focus more on a main subject.
When/in what situation would a large depth of field be better?
a large depth of field could be better when you want the entire picture in focus, such as when you are photographing something larger or a landscape.

PHOTO ESSAY
The topic of my photo essay is fishing. Fishing is a very simple and fun pastime that involves nature and patience. my photos focus on peace and serenity. I took all of these photos while fishing on different occasions. My photos show human made areas (such as a bridge) and natural areas (such as a beach or stream). this helps to show that no matter where you are, you can enjoy some peace and quiet with fishing.
SHADOW AND REFLECTION
What time of day and objects did you choose to shoot for your photos?
we shot our photos in the late morning. we chose objects that threw interesting shadows.
If applicable, describe what technical settings you controlled on the camera: ISO, WB, aperture or shutter speed.
In these photos i was using a fast shutter speed and an ISO of 100. My white balance was set at sunny day.
Describe the photo (or photos) you took. How is the shadow cast in the photo?
in all of the photos i took it is mid morning so there isn't many long shadows. they are all short shadows. It is a bright day so the shadows are lighter in color.
Describe the composition and positive and negative space in the images.
in the 3rd photo the background is negative space. (the pavement)
Did you incorporate line, shape, pattern, texture to add visual interest to your shot?
Yes. in the second photo I used the fence to create leading lines with the shadows and the shadow casted creates a good line texture.
Finally, how does the shadow in your images add mood, mystery or intrigue to the photo?
The mood in my photos is happy because it is a bright sunny day and the shadows are very simple which doesnt leave much to the viewers imagination. this can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.
